What is a template?

A template from WebStudioTemplates.com is a Web Studio compatible file containing a page or pages with sample text, graphics and images that can be used as the basis for a website. Also included with the template are any special font files used, notes relating to the specific template and a text file/license detailing the permitted uses.

Can I customize the templates with my own content?

Yes, that's the general idea. Everything that you see in the screenshots can be moved or removed so you can personalize the site to your own requirements. Any images and text are separate in all but very limited instances so that you can customize the text to suit your own needs before merging it with the image. If a fixed width background image has been used in the template, an alternate image will be provided enabling the site to be easily converted to fill a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels

Please note that search boxes displayed in the templates are for effect only. Web Studio doesn't have a search function built in and any search scripts you add will need to be configured to your own site.

Do the templates use "complicated" things like Flash or frames?

Unless otherwise stated, none of the sites use frames, i-frames, Java, Flash or anything else that you might describe as complicated... just carefully optimized jpeg and gif images with "web safe" fonts and occasionally simple javascript effects, instructions for which are provided with the template.

Will the templates work with other programs?

No, all the downloads are in Web Studio's native "ows" file format and will only work with "Web Studio 2" and "Web Artist 2" produced by Sierra or Vivendi, and Web Studio 3, 4 and 5 produced by Backtothebeach Software. If you want to make sure that the templates will work with your specific version of the program, download the free sample template.

Will a WS3 template work in WS2?

No, templates are not backwards compatible. When you make a purchase you are required to select which version of the template you require, WS2, WS3 or WS4.

The WS2 version will work with WS2, 3, 4 and 5.
The WS3 version will work with WS3, 4 and 5.
The WS4 version will work with WS4 and 5 and it must have the latest WS "Service Pack" installed.
The WS5 version will only work with WS5 and it must have the latest WS "Service Pack" installed.

Because there are some slight differences between the way things are displayed and set out in the different versions of Web Studio, ordering a template for your specific version will mean that it has been checked for that version and looks exactly as it was intended to look. If you order a WS2 template and open it in WS4, for example, you might find that some of the text is wrapped around to the next line compared to WS2. Also WS3, 4 and 5 didn't have the "problem" of fixed page margins, as seen in WS2. None of these things will prevent the template from working in later versions, but you should be aware of the fact that there are slight differences.

What is a "single use" license?

When you purchase a template you will see two license options, "single use" and "multiple use". Basically, a single use license permits you to use the template on any or all pages of a single website and a multiple use license allows you to use the template on as many sites as you wish. Both license types are fully defined in our Terms and Conditions.

What forms of payment can I use? Is it secure?

This site uses the Verisign-approved shopping cart service provided by 2Checkout.com who will accept payments funded by Paypal (in some currencies), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners credit/debit cards. The purchase is conducted on their own secure servers and at no time are your card details visible to anyone else online or disclosed to any third parties, including WebStudioTemplates.com. Sorry, no checks or direct credit card payments can be accepted.

How do I get the template after I have paid?

After your order has been processed by 2Checkout.com the details will be passed on to us. When the purchase has been confirmed, your zipped template file(s) will be emailed (normally within 24 hours) using the email address that you provided during the checkout process. If you have any anti-spam filters on your email account, please make sure that you allow emails from sales@webstudiotemplates.com to pass through and make sure that your email account inbox has sufficient spare capacity to accept the OWS file attachments which are in the region of 500kb each.

If you don't receive an email within 24 hours, or you have any problems, please contact us at the address above quoting the Order number from the 2Checkout purchase confirmation email.

What about technical support... can you fix my site building problems?

Almost all Web Studio sites have problems or quirks of one kind or another. We have done our best to make sure that everything works as it should in each template. In the unlikely event that something included in the template doesn't work, please contact us by email so that we can attempt to fix it. For general problems, the official Web Studio Forum is the best place to find answers.

What is your policy on refunds and returns?

The returns policy is contained within our Terms and Conditions, which you should read carefully before purchase.

Do I have to provide a link back to WebStudioTemplates.com on my site?

Linking to this site is not required but is very much appreciated. Please link directly to http://www.webstudiotemplates.com rather than to a sub-page. Thanks!
